Ecuador

Crossed into Ecuador and headed down to Otovalo. This is a nice town and has a Saturday market place selling all the usual tourist rubbish. Nice to wander round though.

From here we headed to Quito. Lovely capital city, stayed in a very good hostel with a roof terrace over looking the old town and the basilica. The basilica looks realy impressive from afar but close up it looks like it will fall down within 100 years.

From here we visted the middle of the earth museum and also climbed the Guagua Pichincha volcano. Was really cloudy though so not good views and couldn´t even see in the crater at the top. Good walk though up to 4794m.

After Quito we headed down to Rio Bamba to take a train ride down the devils nose, unfortunatly there had been a landslide and so the track was closed along this section so we missed it.

Back up to Banos in the mountains to chill a few days, did a nice walk all round the mountains around the town and I hired a motor bike to go for a nice burn through some of the surrounding mountains. Really nice little town.

Back to Quito to fly out to the Galapapagos!!!
