Galapagos

We flew out from Quito via Guayquil to the Islands. We met up with Jaki who we met many months previously in Vietnam and her friend Lynn who was t join us on our 8 day cruise round some of the islands.

Our 8 day boat cruise was great, on boardthe Floreana, the boat is owned and operated by Jaki`s sisters fellas family so the meeting in Vietnam was for a reason.

The snorkeling and SCUBA diving with all the aquatic wildlife was absolutly awesome. We got to visit many of the islands and see amazing animals, such as red and yellow land iguanas, marine iguanas, lava lizards, blue footed and nazca boobies (birds), Darwin finches, mocking birds, sea lion colonies, white tipped sharks, turtles, pelicans, frigate birds (that have a huge red expandable pouch below there beak), penguins, manta rays, flamingos and the wave albatross.

We then spent 5 nights on an island called Isabella, with Lynn and Anne off the boat - which you get to via a very bumpy 2 hr speed boat - and well worth it and very relaxing. The streets around the town are sand.

Back to Santa Cruz for a couple of nights where I went off to dive Gordon rocks and see some hammerhead sharks close up!! Very cool.

All in all loved it, just needed a few more months to really soak it up.
